Imagekind Blog Challenge - Andrew Milne (Photographer)
Jul 7th, 2007 | By admin | Category: Interviews
I am a serving member of the United Kingdoms Armed Services at the moment, I have only 1 year left on my contract and am trying hard to start a career in photography when I leave ……
My photography grew as a method of getting away from the job to begin with…. a relief valve if you like…. but I got caught up in the learning of how to tell the camera what to see… altering the meter readings and apertures to suit MY needs and points of view…
I am, in reality, almost completely self taught…. mostly trial and error… (film made that an expensive learning curve.. but easier to document and record why things did or didn’t work..)
I now use a Fuji S5 and have been digital for about 6-7 years…. and have been taking images for about 14 years in total now…
I started out doing sports and people images…
My main love these days is studio work…..and to sort of specialise that even more I do a LOT of ART NUDE images… I manage to sell quite a bit via imagekind and other online libraries… local galleries sometimes take the “risk” and show my nudes …. it seems to upset the sensabilities of a few prudish souls when they do … but they get more people through the door and therefore more chances to sell the galleries art work in general…
Portraiture is something that seems to come naturally , but that might be as a result of me being in the forces and fairly confident with telling people how and what to do for 22 years.!!!
I’ve added two images to this page because I feel they represent my attitude to the subject of ART NUDES… to show curves and highlight how to lie to our cameras….
WE are more intelligent than the metering systems and NEED to take charge of that more often…
Thanks for taking the time to read this… and thanks to Andrew for giving me the opportunity to show my images…
